Developed for health, wellness and fitness professionals, this non-clinical award provides a structured, responsible way to support stroke survivors and their families in their ongoing rehabilitation journey, always within your professional scope and in alignment with clinical care.
Each year, nearly 70,000 people in the UK leave hospital with stroke-related disability yet many face limited support and long waits for formal therapy in the crucial early stages of recovery.
70% of stroke survivors report ongoing issues with mobility, communication and confidence, yet only 38% receive adequate rehabilitation in the first six weeks after discharge. This is why informed, non-clinical support in the community is needed.
The CPD in Stroke Rehab Support will equip you to:
🧠 Understand the physical, cognitive and emotional impact of stroke.
🧠 Support functional movement and strength using adaptive techniques suitable for stroke survivors.
🧠 Design and deliver simple, non-clinical communication-based activities to support language, memory and confidence.
🧠 Recognise red flags and how to refer appropriately.
🧠 Support survivors and families with insight, empathy and clarity.
🧠 Bridge the post-discharge gap, offering consistent, uplifting and structured support where formal rehab is delayed or limited.
This course is NOT a substitute for physiotherapy, occupational therapy or speech and language therapy.
It complements clinical care by empowering health, wellness and fitness professionals to contribute meaningfully and safely to stroke recovery in the community.

Having spent 33 years in my last practice as a full time GP and trainer of new GP’s and currently still practicing part-time in Occupational Health, I found the CPD in Stroke Rehab Support well titled and all the material well researched and presented in a readable way by anyone with or without medical training or background.
Trainee doctors would learn from this course as would any of the allied medical support professions including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, podiatrists as well as anyone with any dealings with someone affected by stroke.
How a person affected by a stroke thinks and communicates with the world after a stroke is considered in detail within this course which is enlightening, intuitive and very thoughtful. I thought that I knew most of the content before completing the course but I definitely learnt some new things along the way which would have been helpful in my earlier years as a clinical practitioner.
I unreservedly recommend this course to everyone involved in any way with caring for someone who has suffered from a stroke.
